This all depends on how much exploring of Los Cabos you want to do. We recommend four nights or more if you plan to venture out of Zacatitos much. We have made the mistake of packing too much in on shorter trips and regret not allowing ourselves more time to settle in and relax in Zacatitos. A week or more would be ideal for sampling all of the beauty and adventure Los Cabos has to offer.
We do not rent the casitas individually. During your stay, you will enjoy the privacy of having the entire property all to yourself whether you rent two casitas or three. Privacy and tranquility are some of the qualities our guests love most, and we intend to keep it that way.
International news has emphasized that some areas in Mexico have experienced crime targeted at tourists. Los Cabos is not one of those places, and Zacatitos is very safe. The only thing you'll need to worry about breaking and entering is the fox who's lived on this land long before we built, and the wild burros if you don't close the gate. The Zacatitos community has a 24-hour security team, whom you will meet anytime you enter or leave the neighborhood and will see them patrolling at night.
San Jose del Cabo has some really nice grocery stores that are easy to get to. We will send you detailed directions from the airport with a stop at one of these grocery stores prior to travel. They have everything you will need to stock up for your stay. And it's only 20 minutes back into town if you need to make another trip.
The Zacatitos community hosts an excellent Farmers Market on Wednesday mornings (Nov-May ish). You can purchase organic produce, baked goods, fresh caught fish and a lot more.
If you would like to skip the shopping, we can offer grocery delivery for an additional charge. Contact us for more information.
Yes. There is no Uber/ Lift or public transportation to Zacatitos. Once you get there, everything to do in Zacatitos is within walking distance. But you must rent a vehicle or hire a private transportation service to get there. We can offer recommendations for both.
Of course. The East Cape is wild terrain in the Sonoran Desert on the Sea of Cortez. With that comes many interesting life forms, including plants, insects, reptiles and sea life. That is why we love it! We take pride in our thorough cleaning practices but try not to use harmful chemicals that will hurt the unique ecosystem. Because of this, you may encounter a bug that you might not see at a resort.
Yes, we recommend having pesos on hand for your trip. Most businesses in the main tourist cities accept credit cards, but if you plan to venture up the East Cape or inland to the smaller towns, most businesses do not. Some will accept US Dollars at a higher exchange rate. You can order pesos through your bank before travel, but you'll need to plan ahead. It takes several business days to receive them. You can also get pesos out at the ATMs in the grocery stores for a fee. Avoid exchanging currency at the airport.
You will need Pesos or US Dollars (Cash Only) for nearby Zac's Bar & Grill and the Zacatitos Organic Farmers Market on Wednesdays.
Yes, please! Book a stay with us, and we will help you plan your perfect trip. We will guide you through everything you'll need to experience the quiet, less traveled side of Los Cabos. You will have pristine, endless beaches, almost all to yourself, where you can relax without anyone trying to sell you anything. We can offer suggestions on where to eat and activities not to miss. We can provide you with tips, tricks, and even a few secrets we've learned over many years of exploring this beautiful area. All you have to do is book your stay through our website and ask. We are happy to help, this is what we love to do!
We have some big dreams for Casa Moonshine. We would like to eventually add a few more casitas and a main house with a garage. Our vision is to someday have enough rooms to host all kinds of retreats, weddings and large group vacations. Follow Casa Moonshine Zacatitos on social media for updates.
